Thermostatic Shower Valve

While pressure balanced shower valves use changes in water pressure and temperature to balance the shower temperature. Thermostatic shower valves control the water temperature.

Thermostatic shower valves offer a distinct advantage because the temperature will not change throughout the duration of the shower.

Thermostatic shower valves let you pre-set the water temperature. This ensures that water doesn't get hotter or colder than you want, while still allowing each individual to adjust the water temperature.

Pre-selecting a water temperature also conserves water, making it an environmentally-friendly option. A thermostatic shower valve can handle a wide range of shower applications due to its high flow rate.

Two handles control the thermostatic valves: one controls the volume and one controls the water temperature. The thermostatic valves respond to temperature and not pressure. This valve allows you to adjust the flow volume while shaving or shampooing.

The wax element within the valve expands and contracts in response to heat. The element expands when water exceeds its maximum temperature. This allows for more cold to be added and reduces hot water flow. The valve will shut off the flow to the other side if either the hot or cold supply fails.

The benefit of thermostatic valves is that you can control the output temperature. While your water heater can be set at 140deg F to prevent bacterial contamination, your showerhead water temperature can always be 100deg F (the valve can set the maximum temperature).
